   Puppy Parties

All new puppies should receive a course of two vaccinations from 8 weeks old which are given 2-4 weeks apart. During this time they are not fully protected against disease, however, it is critical that they begin to learn how to socialise with other dogs and lots of different people and new environments. This can be done by carefully choosing vaccinated dogs belonging to friends or family and socialising your puppy in a safe environment such as a garden or house.

We run puppy parties at the practice to allow very young puppies to start to develop their socialisation skills. Puppies under the age of 12 weeks readily accept new experiences which makes this time a critical window to socialise them with other dogs and be introduced to new environments and situations such a traffic, different animals, car journeys and loud noises. The puppy party provides an ideal opportunity to socialise 8-12 weeks old puppies in a safe and controlled environment and for you to discuss any health or training topics.
Following you puppies vaccination course, monthly puppy checks are then available to all puppies until they are fully grown. These checks are free and carried out by the veterinary nurse. Your puppy will get to know us, sit up on the table, have a health examination and get lots of cuddles so that they learn that the vets is not a scary place to be. We will weigh and record your puppy’s weight and monitor it’s growth rate and carry out a general health check. We can arrange a flea and worming program and be there to answer any questions about your puppy’s development and decisions that you need to make as your hairy friend grows up.
