Puppies benefit from mental stimulation and socialisation in order to grow

into well behaved and well-adjusted adult dogs.

From birth to 8 weeks old, puppies learn a lot from their mother and their

litter mates. They are also handled by the breeder and exposed to

general household sights, sounds and smells. Once puppies go to their

new home (usually at 8 weeks old), they are at a crucial

development stage in which they should be introduced to as many new

things as possible. Most puppies at this stage are restricted to the house and garden until they develop full immunity after their vaccinations. However, they can experience the outside world and mix with other vaccinated dogs in a controlled environment.

Puppy parties (or puppy pre-school) are an excellent way to start socialising your puppy and introducing them to new things.

Here at Aurora we run regular puppy pre-school classes. They are open to all pups between 8 and 12 weeks old. Our only requirement is that they have had their first vaccination.

The classes are run by our qualified nurses who are able to give you advice on diet, training and answer any other questions you may have. These classes are especially useful if you are a first time ‘puppy parent’!

If you would like to take your puppy to a class, or would like any other information, please phone us on 01224 716848 to speak to one of the nurses.
