OUR STAFF

Andrew Stalker BVM&S MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon

Andrew spent six months neutering dogs in Mauritius after qualifying from Edinburgh Vet School in 1990. He then spent twelve years in mixed practice in his home town of Inverurie before opening Aurora in February 2006.

When not working Andrew enjoys playing cricket for his local team. He is also a big fan of American football and intentionally follows the worst team! One of his main passions is bird watching - he has travelled worldwide to observe different species in their own environment

Katie Rudd BVM&S MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon

Katie graduated from Glasgow Veterinary School in July 2013 and has worked at Aurora ever since. She has a keen interest in Ophthalmology and hopes to complete a post graduate certificate in this.

Katie lives with her husband, her working cocker spaniel Logan and her cat Harvey. Her parents have a small farm in Aberdeenshire with cows, where she loves to spend her free time. Katie is also a keen baker and makes her own jam and jellies with fruit from her parent’s farm.

Kevin Davidson BVMS MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon

Kevin graduated from Glasgow University in 2007 and joined Aurora in 2010, in order to focus on small animal practice. He has an interest in surgery and in 2016 completed a postgraduate qualification in small animal surgery.

Kevin spends most of his time outside work looking after his son Jack and his Border Terrier Lucy. In any spare time, Kevin is a keen hill runner and enjoys escaping to the Munros.

Pauline Coutts RVN
Veterinary Nurse

Pauline joined Aurora in May 2013. She studied at Berkshire College of Agriculture and qualified at the start of 1998. Having previously worked at two practices in Lincoln, she’s now back in her hometown of Inverurie.

Pauline enjoys walking along the River Don with her black Labrador Linnhe. She also enjoys pottering about in the garden and loves nothing better than curling up on the sofa with a good book.

Karen Jappy RVN
Veterinary Nurse

Karen studied at North Highland College in Thurso and qualified in August 2009. She then joined Aurora in October that year. Karen has a special interest in dentistry and completed her BVNA oral care certificate in May 2018.

Karen is kept busy with her two young boys at home along with her crazy working cocker spaniel Yogi. To make life easier, Karen is expecting her third child this September. With any spare time she enjoys going out with friends and loves a good concert/gig!

Christina Cruickshank RVN
Head Veterinary Nurse

Christina qualified from Telford College in Edinburgh at the start of 2011 and joined the Aurora team in August of that year. She leads the nursing staff whilst remaining very much hands on clinically.

In her spare time Christina is kept busy by Dibley, her one-eyed, epileptic Cocker Spaniel who like her loves the beach. She also enjoys spending time with friends and family, especially her two young nephews who keep her on her toes!

Rachel Hay RVN
Veterinary Nurse

Rachel joined Aurora in September 2014. She qualified from Napier University in 2007 and since then worked in a number of practices around the Aberdeen area. Rachel has a keen interest in nurse clinics.
Rachel owns a lively Labrador called Bailey. In her spare time she enjoys teaching Zumba, kayaking and hill walking.

Marcia Niven
Receptionist

Marcia has been with Aurora since we opened in 2006 and is your first point of contact when phoning or visiting the surgery. You can be assured that she will do everything she can to help you.

Marcia has two cats, Tate and Dumpling, but one day hopes to have a dog too. In her spare time she enjoys cycling, walking, eating out and the odd glass of Prosecco!

Jaclyn Cruickshank
Receptionist

Jaclyn joined Aurora in 2012 as our Saturday receptionist and now works full time alongside Marcia. As well as her reception duties, Jaclyn looks after all our social media - so she is the one you need to sweet talk to make your pet ‘famous’.

Jaclyn has a 19 year old cat called Cassandra who sleeps all day and keeps Jaclyn up all night. In her spare time Jaclyn enjoys baking cakes, shopping and socialising with friends and family. She is also THE biggest fan of Christmas!

Sinead Bruce RVN
Veterinary Nurse

Sinead undertook a year’s placement with us back in 2015 and became a permanent fixture at Aurora in 2017 as a fully qualified RVN. She particularly enjoys the surgical side of nursing and laboratory work. Sinead has recently completed her BVNA oral care certificate.

Sinead has a Cocker Spaniel called Luna and two cats called Tiffin and Magic. As the youngest member of Aurora, Sinead enjoys a night out partying with friends and playing the snare drum in the Deeside Caledonia Pipe Band. You will rarely see Sinead without a big smile on her face.

Sarah Chesterman-Barnett BVM&S MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon

Our newest addition Sarah graduated from Edinburgh University in 2011. After a year in mixed practice, Sarah decided to concentrate on small animal practice.

Sarah has spent most of her life in Banchory. She now has her own house there with her new husband, her tabby cats Cedric and Merlin and her black Labrador pup Kingsley. In Sarah’s spare time she enjoys spending time with family and friends, baking/cooking and countryside walks. She is also mad on Harry Potter and enjoys the odd shopping spree...!
